Spain leads clinical trials in Europe
According to Farmaindustria, Spain is the European country with the highest participation in clinical trials.
Of the 1,944 clinical trials authorized in the European Union through the new European Information System (CTIS), Spanish sites participated in 845 (43%).
In addition, the Spanish Medicines Agency (AEMPS) was responsible for coordinating the authorization of 350 multinational trials, which places Spain as the leader in this field, ahead of Germany and France.
Spain was the first country in the European Union to implement the European Regulation on Clinical Trials, in application since 2022, which harmonizes the submission, evaluation and supervision processes throughout the EU.
